It is not uncommon to find mistakes
on your credit report, such as an account that is not
yours, or an account that shows open even if you have
closed it. If you do happen to find a mistake, do not
panic. You can get incorrect information removed from
your report by filing a dispute with each bureau, providing
them with information as to why this information is incorrect.
This can be done on their Web site, or by sending a letter
to them. Once the letter is received, the bureaus have
30 days to conduct an investigation and make recommendations
to fix the problem. If you need your corrections made
in a quicker time frame, your lender may have tools at
their disposal to make this happen. |
